Housing and Accommodation

Housing in Leyton is generally comprised of rows of two storey terraced houses from the Victorian era. The houses are known as Warner homes and were built by the Warner Estate Company, founded 1891.

They are typically solidly built, with high ceilings and bay windows, and usually have cellars.

More information on Warner homes can be found here.

Finding Accommodation

Firstly, there are few hotels in the area, so it is wisest to make arrangements before coming! Sleeping Beauty Motel in Lea Bridge Road is the only one in Leyton but is usually full of permanent residents. Sir Alfred Hitchcock Hotel is in Leytonstone E11, and an Ibis Hotel is in Stratford E15. If you really fancy roughing it Lee Valley Campsite is open from April until October inclusive.

Single rooms in shared houses can be found fairly quickly, if necessary on the day of arrival. To find these, look in newsagents windows (especially if you are a foreign language speaker), try Loot or the local newspaper, the Leyton and Leytonstone Guardian. This comes out on Thursdays and has a pull-out property section.

If you are looking to rent or buy a whole property, the following links may be useful:
Some local estate agents and lettings agents have websites, such as Adam Kennedy (to buy and rent), Outlook (to buy and rent), Churchill Estates (to buy and rent) and Zone Property (lettings only). Many others can be found along Leyton High Road starting opposite Coronation Gardens, going east down to the one way system at the junction with Grange Park Road.
