FoodRestaurants Thai - Tepa Thai This restaurant, on the High Road south of the tube, is friendly and provides excellent warmly flavoured food. Dishes can be altered on request. The menu is varied and includes vegetarian dishes and even steak for those who prefer more familiar flavours. It is worth leaving room for their banana fritters in coconut milk! Also does takeaway. Closed Mondays. Portuguses - Parriera This restaurant was recommended by a reader. Example dish would be grilled cod or chicken, with mozzarella and parma ham. Prices for main courses range from £6 to £14. Give them a try!
The Golden Orient is a short walk or bus journey away, on Leytonstone High Road by the train station. However the food is excellent, and extremely varied including quail jalfrezi and goat curry! Vegetarians are also catered for and the friendly staff will adapt dishes on request. Also does takeaway. Italian - Uffizi Uffizi is a short walk from the Bakers Arms (buses 69, 97) on the Lea Bridge Road. However it is the only Italian restaurant in the area, with traditional garlic bread made from a thin pizza base spread with tomato and garlic, as well as fantastic pizzas and pasta. The chef is on view so you can watch him twirling! Music on Friday and Saturday nights. Closed Mondays. Fast Food Burger - KFC KFC is on the High Road near Coronation Gardens, and is open until 1am (2am Saturday nights). It is the only big name burger bar in Leyton, and you are served promptly. No vegetarian meals. Eat in or take away.
The staff are friendly, the kebabs are tasty and there is a choice of other food such as jacket potatoes available. Orient Kebabs is also open until 1am (2am Saturdays) and is very popular with the football fans as the name suggests! Turkish TV is shown. Eat in or take away.
